One-Day Scottish Fiddle Workshop

Silver Apple School of Scottish Fiddle invites you to a Robert Burns Day fiddle workshop, including light dinner, session and wine tasting.

Taught by award winning Scottish fiddler and educator, Colyn Fischer, enjoy a day of fiddling and festivities at the R&W Winery in the hills above Cupertino. 

Workshop starts at 10 am with dinner and wine tasting. Then a jam session from 5-7 pm. Our day will be divided into three hour and a half sessions: 10:00 am-11:30 am, 12:30 pm-2:00 pm, 2:30 pm-4:00 pm. 

We will be reading music from several Scottish music collections in the morning, learning a few tunes by ear in the afternoon and a synthesis/review in the late afternoon.

Participants should be able to read music and be open to learning by ear. Violinists of all traditions are welcome to join in, whether you are a classical musician, folk musician or jazz violinist; violinists of all levels and styles are welcome! 

Music for the reading session will be posted via our website before the workshop.

  • $75 before 10th of January
  • $85 after 10th of January
  • $100 the day of the workshop

If you’d like to join us for the jam session and wine tasting, please register and we ask for a minimum $15 donation. We will notify you of the address once you have registered.
